Dr. Phra Maha Singthong Thitadhammo Banlusak

Dr. Phra Maha Singthong Thitadhammo Banlusak, Bom on March 15, 1931 passed away on November 14th, 2003 at 3:30 PM in Proven Saint Joseph in Elgin, Illinois at the age of 72 years and 8 months.

Dr. Phra Maha Singthong Thitadhammo Banlusak was bom at Ban Nakhon Thsseng Nambak.

1937 - 1943 - Dr. Phra Maha Singthong Thitadhammo Banlusak studied in primary school at Ban Nakhon Tasseng Nambak.

1943 - At the age of 12, Dr. Phra Maha Singthong Thitadhammo Banlusak entered the monkhood as a novice and spent the next 8 years studying Buddhism.

1952 - At the age of 21, Dr. Phra Maha Singthong Thitadhammo Banlusak was
promulgated to a Buddhist Monk at Wat
Mai Souvannaphoumaram in Luang Prahang, Laos.

1952 - 1954 - Dr. Phra Maha Singthong Thitadhammo Banlusak completed the High Pali grade at Wat Siphouthabat in Luang Prabang.

1955 - 1957 - Dr. Phra Maha Singthong Thitadhammo Banlusak moved to Vientiane to continue his education at the Buddhist College at Wat Sithan Neua.

1958 - 1961 - At Wat Ong Tu, Dr. Phra Maha Singthong Thitadhammo Banlusak earned his B.A. degree. At that time, Dr. Phra Maha Singthong Thitadhammo Banlusak was promoted by the Minister of the Department of Buddhist Religion to be the Secretary General of the University.

1961 - Dr. Phra Maha Singthong Thitadhammo Banlusak was invited by the Buddhist members of Ban Dong-Mieng to set up a new temple. During that time. Dr. Phra Maha Singthong was elected to be the Head of the Temple.

1972 - Dr. Phra Maha Singthong Thitadhammo Banlusak was granted a scholarship for continuing his study in Buddhist Philosophy at Magadh, University in Bodh-Gaya Province, India.

1977 - Dr. Phra Maha Singthong Thitadhammo Banlusak earned his M.A. Degree in Buddhist Philosophy.

1980 - The United States Department of INS allowed Dr. Phra Maha Singthong Thitadbammo Banlusak to settle in the United States.

1982 - Dr. Phra Maha Singthong Thitadhammo Banlusak was asked by the Supreme Patriarchate Royal of Lao to form the Lao Buddhist Monks Organization (LBMO) in the United States.

1982 - 2000 - During this time, Dr. Phra Maha Singthong Thitadhammo Banlusak
worked towards a Ph.D. degree by traveling back and forth between India and the United States.

2000 - Dr. Phra Maha Singthong Thitadhammo Banlusak graduated earning his Ph.D degree in Buddhist Philosophy from Magadh University in Bodh-Gaya Province, India.

1980 - 2003 - Dr. Phra Maha Singthong Thitadhammo Banlusak served as Chairman of the Lao Buddhist Monks Association (LBMO) in the United States. During this time. Dr. Phra Maha Singthong Thitadhammo Banlusak was re-elected to be Chairman twelve terms. The LBMO has united and encouraged all members to provide mutual assistance.

Dr. Phra Maha Singthong Thitadhammo Banlusak organized, directed, and brought the following temples into existence without debt.

• Lao Buddharam of San Diego, California

• Buddharam Temple of Amarillo, Texas

• Lao Buddhavath Temple, City of Des Moines, Iowa

• Lao Buddharam of Charlotte, North Carolina

• Lao Buddharam of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

• Lao Buddharam of Hampshire, Illinois

Dr. Phra Maha Singthong Thitadhammo Banlusak was Lord of Abbot, and was in full charge of Wat Lao Buddharam in San Diego, California.

Venerable, Reverends, Nuns, Ladies, and Gentlemen,

I would like to ask all of you to remember and celebrate the life of Dr. Phra Maha
Singthong Thitadhammo Banlusak. A great teacher, leader, and follower of Buddhism.

His work of teaching the ways of the Buddhist will be passed on and repeated by those that have followed and worked with him. His exceptional efforts to build temples all over the world for our people will continue.

Dr. Phra Maha Singthong Thitadhammo Banlusak was intelligent, venerable with strong faith in Buddhism. Dr. Phra Maha Singthong Thitadhammo Banlusak was working and loyal to his beliefs. Dr. Phra Maha Singthong Thitadhammo Banlusak has enriched, touched, and helped many lives with his teachings of Buddhist words and faith.

Dr. Phra Maha Singthong Thitadhammo Banlusak will indeed be missed. Let us pray as his spirit travels on the journey into Heaven and Nirvana.
